Sharp AQUOS HD Series LED

Sharp AQUOS HD series LED TVs deliver legendary AQUOS picture quality; it features a 120Hz panel refresh rate and a 4 million : 1 contrast ratio for enhanced clarity, especially during fast-motion scenes. All AQUOS TVs have an advanced pixel structure that gives creates a crystal clear image, captivating detail, and brilliant colors. AQUOS HD series LEDs also utilize Sharp's intuitive and easy-to-use SmartCentral, Smart TV platform. Smart Central lets you quickly connected to your favorite web-based content and built-in Wi-Fi means you can do it all wirelessly. The dual-core processor means applications and the web browser will load content faster. You also get access to virtually limitless content from providers like Netflix and Pandora. Getting the content you love in glorious full HD is just a click away. The AQUOS HD, 6 series, is an edge-lit LED TV that's available in 60-, 70-, 80-, 90-inch screen sizes.

Picture Quality

Sharp AQUOS HD series offers superb picture quality at an affordable price; this is achieved by using an advanced pixel structure and innovative engineering to offer you the brightest, crispest image regardless of the content being viewed. Everything Sharp put into the HD series is to enhance your viewing experience; but it all starts with picture quality.

AQUOS Full HD 1080p: All Sharp AQUOS LED TVs have a full HD 1080p picture resolution; this means every image is created with over 2 million pixels - that's over 6 million subpixels. They also offer a superior picture quality when compared to conventional high-definition televisions. Proprietary AQUOS display technology allows this LED to create whiter whites and deeper blacks for an exceptional picture.

Sharp AQUOS HD Technology

Optical Picture Control (OPC): Just like many cellphones, AQUOS LED TVs feature an optical picture control, or light sensor. In overly bright environments, like a store setting, light tends to cause glares and reflections across the screen that diminishes picture quality. The best way to combat that besides turning the lights in the room off is to adjust the brightness of the display. The job is cumbersome and requires you rifle through the menu options to find the optimal setting. Sharp AQUOS LED TVs automatically scan the light in the room and adjust brightness for carefree viewing.

Enhanced Noise Reduction: Enhanced noise reduction has absolutely nothing to do with the volume of your television; audio is covered in another section. Standard definition video signals have to be stretched to fill the pixels of a full HD resolution; this stretching can leave the image grainy and blurry. Noise reduction removes the unwanted "granularity" and smooths image lines.

Dual-Core Processor: The AQUOS HD's dual-core processor helps create images faster and more accurately with reduced motion blur. It also greatly improves the load time of web pages and streaming applications.

4 Million : 1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio: AQUOS HD TVs have a 4 million : 1 dynamic contrast ratio. In English, this means the brightest white is 4 million times brighter than the darkest black. Contrast is one of the key components for a spectacular picture quality; a good contrast ratio is what allows you to keep your eye on the golf ball flying through the sky.

120Hz Refresh Rate: Sharp HD, 6 series, LED TVs have a 120Hz panel refresh rate that ensures you'll see fast action scenes the way the director intended, with minimal motion blur. For every image created by a conventional 60Hz HD TV, AQUOS HD creates 2; this additional frame greatly improves motion clarity.

Inputs/Outputs: AQUOS HD LED TVs have quite a few high-definition inputs, even USB media playback; Sharp makes it easy to get the content you love from the devices you own.

HDMI: The 6 series is loaded with 4 HDMI inputs; this should be more than enough for your favorite HD components. The HDMI input offers the best picture and audio quality of all the inputs currently available; it also carries a lossless surround sound signal, it's literally the perfect input. The first and last HDMI inputs on the AQUOS HD add extra convenience options:

Sharp AQUOS HD (4) HDMI Inputs
HDMI 1 - Audio Return Channel (ARC): For years, audio from a Blu-ray/DVD player that's connected to an AV receiver required an additional cable to play the soundtrack through the TVs speakers; this was usually achieved with a digital coaxial or optical cable running from the AV receivers output into the TVs input. Now, the same HDMI cable that carries the video signal upstream to the TV also carries the audio signal. Now there's one less cable you have to add to the "bowl of noodles" behind your TV.
HDMI 4 - Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL): One of the new "tricks" being used by many manufacturers to keep you connected with the content you love. MHL generally requires a special adapter that you connect between your smart phone or tablet PC and the AQUOS HD LED. MHL is essentially a wired way to mirror the contents from your mobile device on your big screen TV. MHL also carries a lossless surround sound signal since it's using an HDMI input. You can even use the TVs remote to access and select content on your mobile device while it charges.

Component: The 2nd best AV input on any TV; this input requires 3 connections for video (red, green, and blue RCAs) and 2 connections for audio (red and white RCAs); this input is recommended if you already started/completed your "occupy HDMI" campaign; however, unlike HDMI inputs, the component input is only capable of carrying a stereo audio signal to the TV. For lossless surround, you'll need to connect another capable to the digital optical output.
Composite: Composite video inputs are only capable of carrying a standard-definition video signal, 480i or 576i. While it's not common place to use this input, a lot devices still require a composite video connection, e.g. video cameras, DVD players, VHS players (yes, people still use them), etc. If you have to use this input, you should check out this article on how to calibrate your TV's basic picture settings. You'll need to pay close attention to the sharpness setting - but then again, that's why this TV has built-in noise reduction. If all else fails, adjust the sharpness.

USB: AQUOS HD LEDs even ship with a built-in USB input for software updates and playing digital media files like, photos, movies, and music. The form factor can be a USB thumb drive, external hard drive, even your mobile device!

RF (Antenna): If you have a cable or satellite providers, there won't be anything plugged into this input; this is generally reserved for "bunny-ears" or a standard antenna.

PC Input (VGA): Sharp AQUOS TVs all ship with a PC input; sure you can use the HDMI input, but that requires a couple things - you need a free HDMI port on your TV and your PC needs to have an HDMI output; two things that aren't always the case. Sure you can buy an adapter/converter, but you just bought a TV; the VGA input allows you to seamlessly connect your PC to the TV. You'll still need to transfer audio to the TV through one of the PC's audio outputs.

Smart TV and Convenience Features

The AQUOS HD is a smart TV that uses Sharp's proprietary SmartCentral user interface. Thanks to the great engineers at Sharp, this interface is easy to use and benefits from the additional processing power from the dual-core processor.

SmartCentral: SmartCentral is Sharp's intuitive smart TV platform that allows you to quickly connect your TV to the internet to access your favorite content; this includes streaming media applications. SmartCentral is the starting point for your connected experience with AQUOS HD, from here you can access streaming applications, the built-in web browser, and more.Sharp AQUOS HD SmartCentral User Interface

Most Popular Smart/Streaming Apps: Instead of giving you apps that you won't use, Sharp loads their TV up with the most popular smart TV and streaming applications available like Netflix, HuluPlus, YouTube and more. You can even access you favorite social site applications like Facebook and Twitter.

Remote Control App: Bring the functionality of a remote control to your smartphone or tablet PC. The Sharp remote control app allows you to use your mobile device to change channels or increase the television's volume.

Sharp Beam: This nifty little app turns your mobile device into one of the best media servers available. Simply flick the content - photos, videos, and more - from your mobile device to your big screen. So easy that anyone can do it.

Netflix Second Screen: Netflix second screen lets you use your mobile device to make a show/movie selection from your mobile device and instantly play it on your big-screen.

Flash-Enabled Web Browser: A lot of websites use flash-based animations and a lot of web browsers are incapable of showing those animations - a majority of available browsers require additional plug-ins or downloads to get the full experience of the website. Sharp AQUOS LEDs have a flash-enabled web browser; this means that all your favorite websites can be viewed and navigated on a screen that's bigger and better than any other device.

Split-Screen Web + TV: Split-screen + web takes picture-in-picture to another level; ever wonder what actor is doing the voice over for that cartoon you're watching with your children? Or if the actor in your favorite show was in that movie you watched last night? Simply invoke this feature on your AQUOS HD TV and never miss a moment while browsing the web for the answer you seek. Even about ordering a pizza without missing a single second of the sports broadcast? Television just got THAT much better.

Built-in Wi-Fi: There's no faster way to get connected to a library of virtually endless content than with built-in Wi-Fi. All you need to get your TV connected to the Internet is an existing wireless network in your home. If you don't have an existing wireless network, you can still connect your TV to the Internet via Ethernet. Sharp AQUOS SQ DLNA Media Compatibility Chart

DLNA: This wireless feature allows you to share content from devices on your home network with your AQUOS HD. You can stream music, movies, and shows from anywhere in your home to your TV as long as both devices are on the same network.

AQUOS Advantage Live (AAL): AQUOS Advantage Live is Sharp's remote access, customer support service for your AQUOS TV. A team of expert advisors are on stand-by to remotely assist you with optimizing settings, adjusting your TV, checking connections, and testing signals. Sharp's goal is to ensure you have the best worry-free viewing experience.

Automatic Software Updates: Who doesn't hate to discover their electronics aren't working properly or they're working slower than normal because you failed to complete a software update? As long as your TV is connected to the Internet, the software will be automatically updated; no reminders or additional downloads needed.

Audio Features

Speaker Layout: The AQUOS HD is equipped with a 20W, dual down-firing audio system that features virtual surround sound and clear voice technology for a truly immersive viewing experience. Don't just watch TV, experience it with Sharp AQUOS.

Auto Volume Control: This feature uses sophisticated algorithms, created by the innovative Sharp engineers, to measure and lower the volume of broadcast TV commercials to match the volume of the show/movie.

Clear Voice: Clear Voice increases the volume of the dialogue in shows and movies so it's just as loud, or louder, than the rest of the audio track.

Virtual Surround Sound: No blockbuster movie is complete without surround sound. The AQUOS HD signal can receive and process a Dolby or DTS codec to create a simulated surround sound experience through the TV's on-board speakers. The signal can also be sent downstream to an external AV receiver or speaker for further processing.

Wall Mount Setting: Sharp AQUOS' wall mount setting automatically configures the audio output of the television when mounted on a wall.

Inputs/Outputs: The audio inputs send audio signals to the TV for playback over the on-board speakers or it's sent through the outputs to an external amplifier or home theater system for further processing.

(3) Analog Audio Inputs: The Sharp AQUOS HD series has total of (3) three RCA analog audio inputs. These inputs are used for carrying audio for the component and composite video signals - you don't have to have a video component connected, you can still use them exclusively for audio playback through the TVs speakers.

3.5mm Audio Input: This input is used to get audio from another source, like a home theater PC or an MP3 player; it's the standard 3.5mm plug, commonly associated with headphones. This is an analog input that's only capable of carrying a stereo audio signal.

Digital Optical Output: Need another method to carry a lossless surround sound signal from your TV to an external device? Use the digital optical input; this is the audio only equivalent to an HDMI input. This single audio output will carry the audio from anything playing on your TV, downstream to another device for further processing/playback.

3.5mm Audio Output: This output is also known as the headphone audio output. It simple carries an analog, stereo, audio signal from the TV to an external device.

Sharp AQUOS HD Audio Outputs

AQUOS LED TVs are more than just bigger than the competition, they offer more choices; Sharp allows you to go bigger than the "others," without going "overboard." Most manufacturer's make a 65" and then jump right to 75-85" without anything in between.

Slim LED TV: A slim LED TV is able to fit more screen into less space. AQUOS HD TVs have a frame that's thinner around the screen and less than 3.5" deep, excluding the stand.

Edge-Lit LED: Sharp AQUOS LED TVs are thinner because they have the LED built throughout the edges of the display; unlike conventional HDTVs that load the LEDs directly behind the screen.

Wallpaper Mode: Wallpaper mode allows you to showcase the amazing picture quality of the 6 series by turning the TV into a full HD picture frame. When wallpaper mode is engaged, it creates a slideshow of your personal photos or pre-installed artwork. Wallpaper mode works on extremely low power.

Wall-Mountable TV: Every Sharp AQUOS LED is VESA compliant; this makes it easier to find a compatible wall mount.

Mounting Pattern: 400mm x 400mm

Energy Star TV: Thanks to the great engineering and development by Sharp, the AQUOS HD is one of the most energy efficient TVs in its class.

this is my second sharp aquos led smart tv I have purchased in less than a year, why you might ask, well looking at all the led tv on the wall, the sharp aquos led smart tv just jumps right out at you. my almost new Samsung 50" I had in my room went south, lines vertical across the entire screen, it can be fixed, but why..when I saw that sharp led on the wall, I pulled out my credit card. sharp has an almost real looking screen, its almost like being there...what more can you ask for!

I purchased this tv to replace a 55 samsung led tv and I have to say in the store the pitcher was ok but the price was good so I got it. When I got home and hooked it up to my xbox 360 it was like night and day the quality was 100x better and it has enough hz's to not lag when I play. Loving it.

this tv provides great value for somebody looking for a larger flat pannel. even though the picture is entry level the tv makes up for this in features having smart tv. the other thing that this tv includes is wallpaper mode which allows you to display pictures on the tv while it is off like a screen saver.
