HWD550 Soundbar w/optical/HDMI can't turn on or vol adjust w/ qwerty remote

Really disappointed that UN46D7000 qwerty remote can't operate the sound bar. Paul's tech could volume control & turn off w/ HDMI but couldn't turn it on. Have to turn on manually or use sound bar remote. It's 2011 & Samsung can't link soundbar & blu-ray to their TV remote? REALLY? Plan on having your remotes lined up in front of you REGARDLESS of what the salesman told you before you bought the units!
