The manual could have been written more clearly and supplied with the unit. On the other hand, this is a great piece of equipment and a great value. The Yamaha receiver that it replaced (14 years old) is still going strong!

Tried a Pioneer and a Sony. Took them both back for compatability and setup issues. This Yamaha fit like it was made for us. Using Bose speakers with a Cerwin Vega sub woofer. Sound is AWESOME even at low volume. (wife loves the volume part) Auto setup was easy and tweeking system is simple.

This receiver replaced a 12 year old top of the line Onkyo that was starting to have problems. It was very well priced, and sounds comparable to the Onkyo it replaces.
The automated setup was a breeze and the whole thing took less than an hour to get hooked up and running.
My only problem is what others have noticed, an occasional dropping out of the sound for maybe a half second every once in a while. Maybe once every two or three hours.
Excellent 5.1 system!

The only negative I can say is that when turning on the system it does not stay on the last output used. It initially is set on it but changes after about 3 seconds. There may be a way to get it to stay but I have not found it yet.
