Great TV

Fantastic picture and a wide assortment of inputs. I'm especially a fan of the USB input which allows the playback of a multitude of video files (.mkv, .avi, and more) from a USB hard drive.
On another note, the author named To Know your stuff!!!!! who posted that all LED LCDs have matte screens is incorrect. They can have either a glossy screen or matte screen. Personally, I prefer a matte screen.
Also, Know your stuff!!!!! posted that LED LCDs have deeper blacks than regular LCDs. That is also incorrect. Only LED LCDs with local dimming will have deeper blacks. TVs with edge lit LEDs will not have any advantages in picture quality over a regular CFL LCD. I should note that this particular model has edge lit LED technology, not local dimming.
So Know your stuff!!!!!, you should really do some research so you can know your stuff before you criticize others.
No 240hz model planned until March

Videophile on Nov 10 mentioned: "but wait a month or so for the updated aquomotion 240hz version"
Talked to a few different Sharp reps - yes, a 240hz version is on the way, but not before March. I know that's not long off but it's not coming out this month either (or before the Super Bowl - I mention that since that's got to be on at least a few interested shoppers minds).
I went ahead and bought now since I prefer to turn the Enhancement Mode off and in the past, the 240hz model has cost upwards of $1000 more than the 120hz model.
For those of you who like the 240hz, by all means wait, but for those of you who have never compared 240hz vs 120hz vs Enhancement Mode being turned off, hit a retail store that has a 70" 240hz on display and compare the modes. Best to have something with fast action on like football or an intense fighting scene from a movie.
People who like it say it decreases blurring. For those who don't, they often describe the action as looking unnatural - almost if there is an aura around the person or object in motion.
In the end though, it's your money so make sure you get what you want! :)

I cant stand when people post stupid things. This TV is MATTE because it is LED LCD, only Plasma TV's come in a "glossy" finish. LED is the way to go, it has deeper blacks then regular LCD. This TV is HUGE!!!

We looked at getting a larger TV for our basement "screening room" and stumbled upon the 80" inch LED from Sharp. Dare I get my hopes up, I showed my wife the 70 inch. She automatically asked, is there anything bigger. I showed her the 80 inch and said, this is the biggest in the industry for flat panels. She said, hook us up. We purchased this from Paul's TV and got a very good deal and the guys brought it to the house, hooked it up and we were watching Blu Ray Hi Def video in about an hour. Awesome picture and instantly transforms an ordinary "screening room" into a "Skywalker Ranch Screening Room". Thanks Sharp -- waiting for a 100 inch in two years!

I prefer Mattte sceens. I agree that the gloss looks great in a ''perfect'' home theater enviroment. Otherwise, gloss normally has way too much reflection of other things in the viewing area...especailly in brighter , daylight conditions. Not all of like to ''always'' watch TV in dark rooms. With gloss screens, you almost are ''required'' to do that...and even in a dark room the reflection issue is still often annoying.
